Web Design Process
- Initial Consultation
- Determine the objectives and scope for the site. Establish accessibility needs and design constraints, as well as budget and timeline.
- Research
- Survey similar sites to analyze various features and content architecture options.
- Content Architecture
- Design of a clear, logical, accessible and usable information structure. The information structure will determine the ease of navigation of the site.
- User Interface Design
- Design of prototypes for the general look and feel of the site.
- Content Development
- In this step, you put together all of the content elements--your copy, images, downloadable documents, as well as any other files that will be included in the site.
- Development
- After approval of the user interface design, the content is populated into a first fully functional draft of the site.
- Quality Assurance and Testing
- Thorough testing of links and navigation. Close attention to every page on the site. Cross-browser testing using various connection speeds.
- Deployment
- After the site has passed the testing phase and you have approved the completed site, the site is migrated to the production web server.
- Review
- Final review of the site and the process. Delivery of site documentation and necessary training for site maintenance.
